I don't dare to, I'm afraid to.

I'm afraid your glance will not be followed by acceptance,

will not be followed by love.

I'm afraid you'll think less of me,

that you'll laugh, and your laugh would kill me.

               I'm afraid that deep-down I'm nothing

and that you will see this and reject me.

So I play my game, my desperate pretending game,

with a facade of assurance without

               and a trembling child within.

So begins the glittering but empty parade of masks,

and my life becomes a front.

I idly chatter to you in the suave tones of surface talk.

I tell you everything that's really nothing,

               and nothing of what's everything,

               of what's crying within me.

So when I'm going through my routine

do not be fooled by what I'm saying.

Please listen carefully and try to hear what I'm not saying,

what I'd like to be able to say,

what for survival I need to say,

               but what I can't say.

               I don't like hiding.

I don't like playing superficial phony games.

I want to stop playing them.

I want to be genuine and spontaneous and me

but you've got to help me.

You've got to hold out your hand

even when that's the last thing I seem to want.

Only you can wipe away from my eyes

the blank stare of the breathing dead.

Only you can call me into aliveness.

Each time you're kind, and gentle, and encouraging,

each time you try to understand because you really care,

my heart begins to grow wings--

               very small wings,

               very feeble wings,

               but wings!

With your power to touch me into feeling

you can breathe life into me.

I want you to know that.

I want you to know how important you are to me,

All was from my sis hp.

The thing about technology, IN MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, no pun intended, is that there is no use in getting the most sophisticated gizmo at the point of time when you are seriously considering to buy.

Like last time when I bought my second last PC. It was an AMD Athlon P-166 Megahertz. At that time which I bought it, the fastest processor was a Pentium 200Mhz. Pentium MMX have nout even arrived yet. For the next two months or so I was very contended with my CPU. Until Pentium 233Mhz arrived and 3D cards start floodin in. Damn I really felt I needed an upgrade.

However, I realized, why in the whole world would I need the fastest CPU.

For god sake... Vanity is man greatest weakness.

Visiting Vet.

This week was quite memorable, I had one visiting vet, Dr. Dennis Lim my classmate to hang around in the clinic. He is very advance... We even had one client who has the hots for him. The client too was one pretty lady. Well the best of luck for him on his journey to UK.

Then I had one new assistant, Mr. James Tan. He is a master student doing part time work here.

Well other than that not much.

I got Broadband

Damn, I got broadband already.

I got so many internet hours with nothing to do but watch You TUbe. The best thing about this Internet thing which I'm having, it is wireless, I'm connected via access point. So let say if you were to come to my clinic with your pocket PC or notebook, and if you be very nice, I'll share you my blazing flashing internet superhighmay. This is a far cry from my last connection which was a 56K dial up. For all of you non techies out there, let me summarise it to you, it like I was using a bicycle last time and now I got a car for internet.

All you doggies and catties are going digital.. 1001100110101

Yippie me.

Well my clinic is going digital soon by the end of the year.

Thank you god.

Veterinarians' Oath

"Dengan diterimanya saya ke dalam ikhtisas Kedoktoran Veterinar, saya bertekad akan menyumbang segenap daya dan pengetahuan saya bagi kebajikan masyarakat, mengekalkan sumber ternakan dan mengelakkan penderitaan kepada haiwan. Last Wednesday was that day. This difficult lady came in with a puppy. The puppy was a few days old. It was barely alive. It was having shallow breathing and upon ascultation i knew it's heart was failing. After a few seconds looking over it, it stopped breathing, the heart beat was irregular.

It was just like reflex, I immediately gave CPR to the dog. I massaged the chest and on the snout of the dog I blew precious air into its' tiny little lung. Without haste, I gave doxapram underneath the tongue. After 5 cycles of CPR, I managed to resuscitate the dog. The dog lives again!

Stabilized the dog for that time being. The owner I could feel looked at me in a different way. I gained her respect. So much for her thinking that new doctors are not as competent as senior doctors. The owner was cost concious,

Sadly after much effort, the dog died about an hour later.

Clocking My Castraction And Spays

These few weeks I have been timing my castraction and spays. I must say it is getting faster and faster. I must say I have only one drop pedicle ever, that was really scary.

Now I feel like surgery is trying to learn how to drive. When I first learnt how to drive I was a bit awkward, however after much practice I got much more better.

Practice makes perfect.

How is Life?

There are days when I'm working where I am really happy however there are times I feel really miserable. Most the miserable times are due to clients. The happy times are with the people whom I am working with.

Some clients I am happy to see them, however some clients I dread the world not to see them. They are really horrible people.

"Why after your castraction my cats are still fighting?"

Imagine some of them expect vaccinations are like upgrades to their animal.

Huh..

There should be a lesson in vet school on how to handle difficult clients.

Parvo dogs client are very delicate clients to handle. Imagine someone has spend thousands of ringgit and the breeder has vaccinated it, and still you're telling them their dog has Parvo. A bit touchy. Especially if the bill goes up few hundred ringgit, some times almost a thousand ringgit. However my joy is the puppies with parvo, just to see them make it another day breathes a sigh of relief. Most of them I leave their fate with god.

Another happy episode today was where I had an impacted anal sac gland and had to squeeze the living shit out of the stinking anal hole. The client was there the whole time helping me to restraint the dog. Mind you, it was an English Mastiff weighing 52kg.

BTW Cutie the dog with the fever of unknown origin has gone back today. The fever just stopped a couple of days ago. Two days before he was was looking cheerful and homesick. He was hospitalised for almost two weeks. He has thrombocytopaenia and some underlying autoimmune disease going on.

My Today

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today I will describe my day from start till finish.

Woke up at 6.15 am, made sure my puppies at home got nursed and milked. Played with the dogs. Its 6.45, took a bath, iron my clothes. 7.00 off to work.

Dad wanted to have breakfast with me. I drove had breakfast at some coffeshop, coincendatally met a banker friend of me dad, had breakfast together. After much chit chat about economics and politics, off to work.

750 arrived at clinic, stomach ache, dont know what cause it, went to the loo. Look at Wendy before going in to the loo. Wendy is a hit by car golden retriever in critical care.

7.55 Felt relieved. Made my morning rounds. Did my case updates for all the dogs in the kennel. I was working the night before and the way things here, I am supposed to update the conditions of the animals. Stuck with one case, a GSD with chronic fever a month more already. You could call it fever of unknown origin. A good friend of mine, a fellow vet notice some else which I didn't notice, I'm glad she noticed that. Made a few mental notes and promised to read up more about it. Heat stress was high in my list of diffentials. Updates some more cases, checking up on the wound cleaning the staff did on on the dogs.

8.30 Gave the required injections to the animals.

8.45 Went to the cat room. Another senior colleague was helping me out there. Looked at Kitty. Kitty was an undiagnosed case which I handled. This was a though one. She hypersalivates everytime she got handled. Check on her drips. Tommorrow we will run a series of x-ray to get a better picture.

9.00 Sat down awhile to catch my breath. Thought about the Babesia slides I look yesterday and got puzzled. Decided to relax myself. Took out the Breed Pictures of Dogs Book and looked at the beautiful dogs. Never failed to relax me.

9.20 Went to surgery room. Watched a OHE, this OHE was special because the cat was dystocic and we used a hemostat to pulled the kittens out. The kittens were already dead. Then the surgeon decided to use a skin glue to glue the skin instead of using sutures. Well it stuck and looks very neat. The skin glue is a type of enzyme with rubber chemical stuff. Haven't read about the leaftlet yet.

10.20 Went to the front office. Handled a few cases. Mostly mange cases of skin with revisits.

11.40 No clients. Relaxed at the office. Looked at the fax machine. No fax.
Kitty owner came and ask for updates. Did the doctor assurance thinge. Damn, I'm good.

12.00 Other vets left for lunch. Another vet was on lunch duty, decided to helped him out for awhile.

12.00 Handled a vaccination case. peanuts. 12.10 Damn, the asthmatic dog arrived again. Brief the fellow veterinarian about the case, this case has been coming in daily for the past week with complaints of astmatic attacks at night. The vet on lunch duty have not seen the case. He repeated the treatments.

12.20 Just about to go back home. A client with her mom came to visit their dog, a post eye enucleation. Tried to sneak out unnoticed by them, but to late they noticed me. Started to ask me about their dog. Suddenly they ask me about their dog at home which was on heat, and ask me about dog pregnancy and why the mammary gland was swollen. Gave a brief lecture on Pseudopregnancy. Asked the owner to come back with their bitch for through check up.

1.00 At home, had lunch. 1.20 Watched TV 1.30 Left for work again

2.00 Arrived at work. Traffic congested. Surprisingly no cases. Read up on thoracic radiology.

2.50 Maggot wound case. At the region near the anus. Charged 35 bucks.

3.20 A sick dog came in with Respiratory tract infection. Crackles can be heard from the lungs. The owner doesn't know anything about dog care. The dog had puppies which it also brought along for vaccination. Fever. Discovered it had started to have hard pads on the nose and four paws. Just started.

Damn, Canine Distemper!. What to do? To treat or not to treat. Talk to another senior vet whether to treat or not to treat. Pondered on the fate of the puppies. Another senior vet handled the puppies and proceeded to vaccinate them anyway.

Treated the dog for the Respiratory tract problem. Gave sypmtomatic treatments. Really worried, Distemper had three days to develops. Have three days to hope.

Dog went back home.

Another associate vet had helped me gave the afternoon injections for the cats while I was busy handling the case. Thanks.

4.45. Made another round at the kennel. 4.50 Had a talk with my collegeus. Talked about horse racing industry and animal ethics. Time went fast.

5.30 Pack up and went back home. On the drive back tried to called my friend in KL but couldn't get through.

6.00 Slept on the couch until 7.30.

7.30 Had dinner with the family

8.00 Watched news.

8.30 Went shopping with the family. It is called City Veterinary centre. This is the best animal health care provider over here.

A little bit of history of the hospital. I did not know when it was established but I knew that this place was already here when I know about dogs which was almost twenty years ago.

The veterinarians and staff are wonderful people. Highly qualified and experinced. Most of them were the top students of the UPM Vet Faculty. I have learnt so much here. Years of experince and high case load of the hospital has really fine tune their diagnostic procedures. We have seven veterinarian and about ten vet technicians.

The case load here is very high. In my opinion it is much higher than UPM especially during Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Times goes by really fast and by the end of the day you are alread burned out. Let me describe the case load here, in one typical WEEK the place will have at least five Canine Parvovirus cases on Intensive Care, 3 Urinary tract Disease requiring Surgery, about 15 review of Urinary and Kidney Disease cases, 10 dental scaling, FLUTD about 5. Maggot wound about 5. Hit by Car with Surgery about 2-3. HBC conservative management about 10. Skin disease cases about 20+. Vaccination and deworming daily about 5-9. Abcesses draining about 7-10 cases per week. Diarrhoea and Inappetance 2-3 per day. Tick Fever 5 cases per week. Exotic animal cases about 2 per week. I didn't even mentioned about undiagnosed cases! We have more dog cases compare to cats.

Working hours is normally from 8-5pm daily, saturday is half day with 2 nights(7-8.30) per week and two alternate working Sundays. The pay is quite high. One of the highest starting basic pay in M'sia.

Expectation from the senior clinicians are quite high. So have to read often and update myself regularly.

I must say I enjoy myself here.
This is a good start for me.

Working Man

Well it is official, i started working on Tuesday (9.10.2006) was interviewed the day before.

Working life is hard and fun. There are some errors in my story I guess. So I'm sorry.

What has happened to me?

Did my life has suddenly turned boring?

NOO... I learnt the value of privacy!

I guess I can censor something in my life. However somethings are meant to be talked about, to be pondered upon, to be brain stormed.

Today, I'm going to talked about Frankenstein.. Just to let u all now. Frankenstein is my 1 year old Rottweiler Bitch. She's the greatest.

Now I don't have to answer any salesman which comes to my house. She does all the negotiation outside. To summarise her hobby is to scare the living day lights out of strangers. Around us she is like a frail little puppy.

I must post her up to date picture soon.

She has grown real well now.

That's all for my blogging for today. Today, you're so occupied and distant. You and your grown up things. I begin to wonder, where do I stand in your life? Before, I was your shield and armour. Now as you flap your wings to fly, I can only just watch you fly and hope you wouldn't stumble. Hoping the winds would always carry you afloat.

Somehow, when your wings are tired, you always come and look for me to rest and for comfort. However when I'm wounded, my calls always seem distant. I'm tired waiting for you. I'm tired of you thinking I will always be there. I'm tired of waiting for you to change. I'm tired of the games we play.

Before, my sighs were always answered. It is different now. Why is time so cruel?

Maybe you did change. For the worse I would say. I expected this. Still I did nothing. Hoping you to realize. Hoping for the clouds to clear up.

The curtains is coming to a close.

Goodbye. My deary old hometown. Attended some parties, funerals and nothing much. I was a bit bored so I went back to my old school St. Joseph's Kuching to play basketball.

Wow I guess somethings change and somethings still stay the same. First let me introduce my school as I know it, it is an all-boys school except the sixth-formers which we have ladies, however the sixth formers doesn't matter. I would say we're a school of gentlemens, or that's what we hoped to be.

However there was one thing I noticed in my school compared to when I played in UPM. The players in my school was freaking loaded. They were using all these brandeds gears and were dressed up to the nine's as I would say. At that time I was just using my old worn out nike shoes and some unknown brand of pants. I felt outclassed. The worst of all was the Form 1 and form 2s, there were wearing original Le'Bron James Nike apparels. Jeez, do we really need that much commercialism.

As anyone would expect, we would expect them to be cocky and proud. I got the exact opposite, I talked and reminisce with the students. They were courteous and friendly. Most of the people outside of St. Joe would expect us to be cocky. I guess sometimes we are but deep down were just like you and me. Nothing much and nothing more.

I would say it was kinda of fun playing with them. Nice smooth rubbery ball to play with that's one and I guess the basketball rim in St. Joe is a bit short. Lastly I got to reminisce the time when I used to play ball when I waited my dad to come home from school.

Ah.. memmories.

What's going on?

<img style="float:left; I did not realized doing research is so much fun especially if u have all creative control and design in your project. Plus if u have a really great friends to be with.

There are many wonderful things which I have learnt about these few weeks. The most important of all is time management. Having only around 13 hours a day for my disposal to do my research leaves me a lot of time to really study the X-factors of my research, and I even have time to do some surgical research on my spare time on dogs.

Oh god, where's my manners.

I should introduce my research first. I'm researching on Effects of Supplementing Wood Vinegar Extract(Mokusaku-eki) in Productivity, Egg and Fecal Quality In Layer Chickens.

Quite a mouthful to say isn't it. I cannot elaborate much further about my research because I'm bonded by the laws of corparate secrecy. I can't talk about my research OK. My research is funded by them. Try watching The Constant Gardener- you know what I mean.

My research also involves human subjects. To those who have been my human guinea pigs I thank you. Hey, I'm also eating the eggs.

For the other research which I am helping out to do, I too can't put it in my blog. I have strict orders not to put it in my blog.

Geez.

A Wonderful Blog to read

Sandy's blog- This girl's thoughts on life and love is wonderful

Due Change

Just added a chat box.

My style of writing is really getting old. I have been on numerous first dates. Most of them ended up in failure, not as what I expected and some of them turn out to be jack in a box surprises.

Last week after suffering one of the worst first date in my life. I decided to compile a list on what or what no to do in your first date. I'll tell you all later about the date.

1. Never go out on a Movie on your first date.
This is very crucial when you don't even have a clue how's that special someone is and furthermore the other person doesn't know how you're like. Appearence can be deceiving. Movie is too common.

Suggestion for an excellent first date:
a) Go ice skating even both of you don't have any idea how.
b) Go bowling.
c) If its' available and your daddy is loaded, go parachuting.
d) Go jogging on the park.
Keyword here: Bonding.
Typicaly simple would be
-Dinner-
Any Tom, Dick or Harry could do this.

2. Never reveal your bad habits.
I know maybe today you got sore throat and you need to spit your lungs out. However be ladylike or gentlemen. Always be cultured. Have some class for god's sake.

3. Always be prepared for a date.
Guys, take a bath first.. that the simplest idea I can give you. No slippers, shoes+socks please.
Ladies, the way you present yourself is important. Never too sexy. I know wearing that push-up bra is very tempting. If possible be angelic, the way you present yourself will illicit the same response you will get. Let's say if you're dress up in black, and it's seems the tailor has just ran out of material for your dress. What do you get? Guys are stupid. They always think what you see is what you get- a sarong party girl.
Suggestion, wear white. If you're guys going out on a casual date wear white top with jeans. No T-shirt.

4. Never ever expose your past relationship or whatever "Friends" you have.
You might sound nice to tell your date that she is much better than your ex. This is not a compliment. People don't like comparison, they might think you are still on the rebound and still hung up on your ex.

5. Losing is also winning.
Don't brag. Never try to top your date. Let's say your date say "I'm really tired and busy today" I know the common response would be "Me too. I am also busy ... bla bla bla" Friend, here is not a place for you to find something in common and connect.
Here a simple advise. Reply like this.. "You must be tired." Be thoughtful of others' feeling.

6. Focus
Like every sport, first date is also like a game. You have to anticipate be prepared. Dont look at other people around you, especially if the was a sexy supermodel walk by you. People are really insecure about their looks. If possible turn off your handphone. No one likes to be the side order of a main course for a dinner.

7. Be honest.
I know people tend to overexaggarate about themselves. Here's the some of the lines I always here ladies tell me about their dates mistakes:
"I'll take care of it, besides I don't know what to do with my money"
"I don't really exercise, however I'm thinking of Beijing 2006"
"I'm not saying that I'm a genious but I always think IQ test was easy"

Most of the points need elaborating. Futhermore i need three more points. It's a 10 things list!

What's going ON..

Just deleted my bday post.. Can't remember.. Sorry whoever you are.

Basically we learnt about these raptors in depth. Black Buzzard, Honey Crested Buzzard was the most common raptors which I spotted.

Met lots of other countries delegates. Japan, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Myanmar.

Socialization nite was great.

The pictures from Liza's camera is here Comments also from her.

Mine laterlah.

Exam Season

My 9th semester exam is finally here, still I'm bored, however bored I am I still have time to procrastinate. Just had equine medicine test..predictable questions...

Assignments..2 more to go

The article I am writing for some magazine is also overdue. Creativity block again. I guess I submit before the end of the week.
I forgot to mention, I got in touch with some startup teen magazine editor and said I want to contibute something to their magazine. They said OK.
I dont know how everything will go.
I couldn't say much right now.
I wonder if you guys noticed I started every sentence with an I there ?
I am damn sure.
Ok.. ok.. the title of the article is "First Date Errors"

Watched Chicken Little today, comment: It is too short, only an hour and 5 minutes

Here's something wondeful to read:

I love you not for whom you are, but who I am when I'm by your side.
No person deserves your tears, and who deserves them won't make you cry.
Just because someone doesn't love your as you wish, it doesn't mean you're not loved with all his/her being.
A true friend is the one who holds your hand and touches your heart.
The worst way to miss someone is to be seated by his/her side and know you'll never have him/her.
Never stop smiling, not even when you're sad, someone might fall in love with your smile.
You may only be a person in this world, but for someone, you're the world.
Don't spend time with someone who doesn't care spending it with you.
Maybe God wants you to meet many wrong people before you meet the right one, so when this happens, you'll be thankful.
Don't cry because it came to an end. Smile because it happened.
There will always be people who'll hurt you,so you need to continue trusting just be careful.
Become a better person and be sure to know who you are before meeting someone new and hoping that person knows who you are.
Don't struggle so much;best things happen when not expected.

Thanks to the author.

Oh yeah I promised I post about the Asian Raptor thing. Got lots of pictures, too bad I didn't bring my pictures to post today so I guess I post it the symposium post by the end of the week. I had a wonderful time there.

Well holiday is a bit boring.
A bit..nah damn it is boring.

I should have went back, however after considering the assignments and air ticket fare I guess just forget about it first, besides I'm going back for christmas.

Have u guys watched the movie All about a boy ?

Well currently my life is like of Hugh Grant's character in that movie. Nothing much to do except going out shopping, exercising, eating at home and the most frequent of all being a couch potato and watching tv. Went to Midvalley, Mines and KLCC. Basically watched all the movies out there. I even wacthed the Wooden Camera last Tuesday at Midvalley. It was one of those International Movies they were offering. A very revealing movie about racism in South Africa.

Couldn't play basketball. Still nursing an injury to my achilles' tendon. Tried playing last sunday at Taiping during the symposium, still having pain when I tried to make sudden turns. Swimming pool is closed for the holidays ! The gym is also closed ! At least I got a mini gym at home.

At least with all the time in my hands I'm cooking for myself at home. After a recent failure in cooking some complicated taufu dish-a recipe I found in the net. My determination to cook is a bit repressed. Gee I wonder what am I going to cook tonight? I like being spontaneous.

Today I went to the faculty.. At least I'm not the only one that thinks that holiday is depressing. Prof Thilagar and Dr. Chen was there doing work.

If I had a dog here, I wouldn't be boring.

Feeling the same way!

http://lessextraordinary.blogspot.com/

Spikes!

My article on "How to look and Act Like A Professional Vet" got published on Spikes!2nd issue the year 2005.
Dobot I did it!

If any of you guys want to read the latest Spikes! it is available at the vet library at the magazine section.

BTW I wrote a lot of posts actually but most of them are still in draft and not yet publish, maybe someday I will finish them.

Suggestions please-First Dates Errors

Meeting someone new is very nerve wrecking and exciting at the same time.

What's up with me?

How come there is no post? U all ask.

Frankly I'm sorry. There was a downcycle in my life. I got unmotivated and listless. It all started from the word

NEVER..

Never is such a big word to use. However that has come to an end. That chapter has come to close. El Comphrende!

It has come to my judgement that I myself will not use the word never. It is like an ultimatum, like trying to cheat away from death.

However like all great people, deal with it, compensate, find another way around.

Let me give my gentle readers a common example:

I will never cheat in exams.

However in this case, there are many ways of cheating, you could even be cheating indirectly even if you don't know it. Like starting early, by writing before the examiner letting you start, accidentally seeing your mates paper even you don't intend to, and even having good relations with the examiners.

What I'm trying to say here is there is no such thing as BLACK and WHITE in life.
There is always a GREY area, a buffer zone I say. Limbo, as Catholics would say.
Somehow you could be correct and wrong at the same time.

I'm not trying to educate anyone here. Freedom of speech, baby. If any of you don't like what you reading try asking your mouth to talk with my fist.

I apologise if I sound brute or uncivilised.

If you're still wondering what I am talking about, I will summarised it to you:

In life please be flexible to other people. Nobody's as pefect as you are. Humans are emotional beings.

However something wonderful happened to me starting last weekend. I can't describe much due to constant wannabe tabloids reporters in class. However ever since, my 3-points shoots in basketball has a 50% accuracy. Thats a giant leap from 2-3%

I guess GOD has a plan after-all.

Nearing the Finish Line

It's going to be another 5 months plus until my undergraduate studies is finishing. It feels really good actually, feels like I was back in Chermai Jaya and doing my final semester in Matrix. The feeling of uncertainity with prospect unknown is in the air. I'll try to leave with good memmories of this place. Try listening to Vitamin C-Graduation, you'll get what I mean(It's a song). BTW Farah(my Chermai Jaya classmate) where's my Vitamin C casssete?

The pressure in exams and projects is really tantalizing. I don't mind going here and there and looking high and low to do my stuff. It's like pushing a wheelbarrow with cement up a tall hill. I'm whistling my way up cos I know I will make it up the hill. Others are fretting themselves and anxiously asking "Are we there yet?"

"Life is like a box of chocolate. You will never know what are you going to get"- Forest Gump

I never really got what I really want in life. Somehow god, always holds the JOKER card and has his own plans, however he makes sure I always end up with a better deal in the end. This randomness and unpredictabality in my life is always perplexing to me. Now, I try not to plan, I just do my best, and enjoy the ride.

Just today, another surprise came along, I felt like I was in Form 3 again under my English Teacher class. The same words came out from my toxicology lecturer,

"If you're going to talk, I suggest you go outside."

Guess I can't stop talking wit a good companion around. Thanks for just being there.
Pam, don't worry I dont think she will send us to the Discipline teacher.

Life's wonderful. I always enjoy reminiscing. I'll know I will always remember my time here.

Censored Post

I just censored my last post. My first draft got a few mistakes and the second draft got accepted by my first supervisor. Now need to consult my second supervisor. My second supervisor is one of the most busiest women in the world, you practically have to make an appointment like a few days before just to have 15 minutes of her time. This conference thingy is so taxing.

Some of the most memmorable comment to my presentation.

1. "Looks well prepared."-Prof Rashedee
2. "Your discussion is ok."-Prof Thilagar

Well, this is kinda of remind me of the movie Babe. The movie where the pig becomes a sheep-dog. It kinda of like me being the pig and the farmer Hoggart-thats the name, said to the pig in the end after they won:-

"That will do pig, that will do."

The pig here had to battle life and death situations and thats all the farmer got to say?!

Where's the justice in this..

Thats end of part 2.

Clinical Conference Preparation

Yesterday made a deadline for myself, must finish my first draft copy of my conference. I even set up a meeting with my supervisor today at 2.30pm. I was really confident that I could finish it before 11pm that night.

However things that I wouldn't expect to go wrong went wrong.

1) The main library didn't install MS Powerpoint so couldn't look up the journals and do the presentation at the same time.
2) My GMail Drive couldn't support long file names, and my thumbdrv was already filled with journals downloads. Thus new reference journals couldn't be saved.
3) Went back home, couldn't open the journals, No adobe acrobat in my computer. HAd to go out and download the programme.

By this time it was already 11pm. Now everything was going well.
4) At 2am, got brain creativity freeze. Too much overwork. Couldn't recall the specific word to put in my slide took until this morning for me to remember the word.
and guess what it is... JUSTIFICATION. Damn, I guess you need sleep after all.

Doze off at 3am, force myself to wake up at 6am, look over my reference journals and start to do my discussion part of my presentation. This is the most crucial part of presentation. This part could make or break my presentation.

8am. Went to have breakfast and ate Thosai.
8.30 am Review with Jesse-the smartest boy in class

DVM 6

Our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Programme is only 5 years and we called ourselves DVM 5. It's a nightmare for someone to have to repeat another year and be inside DVM 6. Today that nightmare almost happen to someone I know. For sake of my safety purposes I will not mention her name, furthermore she has a very protective dog which she thinks will tear her enemy to shreds.

On this fine morning, this person was happily playing with the computer and doing her conference case. My god she was so mesmerized that even after calls to her handphone was ignored. She was supposed to have her Equine Rotation today. This is a compulsory thing. Playing hookey spells doom. Even I reminded her to stop playing the computer and go down for rotation, however my warnings was ignore.
Thus the van left without her.

Today I'm going to make a list of Benefits Of Being A DVM 6
1. You will be the top scorer in your class. It's better if you sponsor a faculty prize and make a plate on the faculty wall. It's impossible for you not to have the prize. The Prize should be based upon the Best Overall Acadamecian In Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine 6th Year of Undergraduate Study. This can really make your parents proud, and they will happily forget that they have to pay another extra year of tuition fees. Besides some EU DVM proggrames are six years like in University of Utrecht Netherlands.

2.You can have as many classmates as possible-the only condition is that they are your imaginary friends. This is really good to encourage creativity development in your brain. This will be good for your resume if you decide to become a resident in a mental institution.

3. You will be your class representative. You will be invited to all the important faculty meetings and make a lot of major decisions which will affect the well being of the faculty. Plus when the university hands out free bees to classes, you will get a whole stack of free bees and keep it to your selves.

4. During Faculty Sport Day you will be the star of your class. You will be the lead runner in all events and you don't have to prove yourselves to others in your class.
However gold medals are not guranteed.

5. You will be famous, when you walk around the faculty there will be talks behind your back as if you are like Britney Spears. Lecturers and clinician will know you by your name and be like your best friend. Even the walls can talk.

6. You can take as many electives you like and take the only ones you like. Example-entertaiment studies through long distance learning-basically you watch tv at home.

However out of all the things, I will not wish this happen to anyone, especially when that someone is counting the days for graduation.

Cameronian Tea Experience Continued

I'm getting tired of talking about the cameron thing so I guess I upload pictures. Being the kind of people who live hedonistically and embracing the 'carpe diem' principle I decided to forget about my exams and joined my juniors for jungle trekking trip at Cameron Highlands. It's a embrace and respect nature programme organised by Ali Anwar of the Zoologico Society. Actually we were supposed to rough it up at Belum forest, however this is fine.

We started out our journey on a fine Sunday morning. After saying my goodbyes to Esmeralda( my patient in the wards).

We a group of 22 DVM undergradutes went off in two vans. The van was filled with food, luggage and excitement.

On the way there, we stopped for lunch at a hot spring. The rocks are really hot, you can get burn if you stepped in the wrong places.

Not knowing really where were going to stay, I imagined it was some kind of on top of a shop house kinda of dormitory. Boy am I in for a shock.

The place where were going to stay is a Malaysian Nature Society(MNS) Retreat Centre. It is located on top of a mountain near Mount Irau at the height of 6000 plus feet above sea level, surrounding it is a wide expanse of BOH tea plantation.

The road leading up to the MNS centre.

A view outside the chalet, almost late in the evening.

Not wanting to be just in the MNS centre we set out for an adventure.

We went to a bee farm.

A butterfly farm

Look a Rajah Brooke on my crotch

Can you spot the leafy bug?

And now spot the leafy frog.

Over there at night a different dinner theme is selected every night. Some of them, I have to admit were very pretty. Worse of all, I was wearing my red dog singlet, which was also revealing, and was their target of their tease. I don't mind the teasing though, I helps to remind me that I look good. BUT please don't rape me.

Society frown upon these people, I often ask why? Did they commit any crime or injustice which affect you or me indirectly. Do they sexually assaulted you just by not conforming to society's image of sexuallity. I have to say, I despise people who look down upon them, but then again if you're parents to these people, how would you feel?

I have gay friends. I admit that, but sometimes around some of my macho and testorone overdrived friends I have problem having them mixing together in one room.

Damn life is so difficult.

Finished !

Wow my rotation days in the wards is finally over. Now can relax and watch movies, that is after tuesday. I'm having ruminants exam on Tuesday. Still I like procrastinating. I still have more than 18 hours to go until exams. At least I'm on study leave. Yeah! FUCK it.

Went back to the wards for a while without my lab coat on. I wore my hip hop gear today. Imagine: "Eminem in Will the Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up" gear. It's an oversize plain white T-shirt with baggy jeans. Matching I tell u! It's freedom of expression. I'm not wearing anything revealing am I? Except that I am revealing that I have a fashion sense. I was even reminded by some of classmates, in class, the dress code. They even supplied me with a pamphlet with the dress code ruling. In the wards, one of the doctors was staring at me funny. Besides I'm in my final year, who would want to tell me off. If they ask I will answer, " You're the fashion police is it ?"

I found out that my dogs miss me. Esmeralda and Bobo. Bobo, a Shih Tzu, was barking his head off. She quiet awhile when I was there. In my absence they put her into a cat cage. She was in a dog's cage yesterday. Eventhough she is 5.4 kg and small she doesn't deserve the disrepect of being a cat.I will post her pictures soon.

This afternoon later going swimming again. Yesterday went swimming, after completing my usual 1 km swim, suddenly Ivan, an old friend who's doing Master's in Operating System design, came up with his juniors and challenged me for a 300m swim. They were other two of them, both are wannabe life guards. Tired as I am, I have no fear. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog" that's what I kept telling myself. Mind you, I just completed my 1 km swim.

If I was a race-horse, I termed myself a finisher. I start slow but until the end of the race I'll sprint, and catch them by surprise. I like doing this. This always catch people off guard when their reserve energy has runned out. The swim started off with two of the juniors sprinting away for the first 100m. Typical. Me and Ivan went slowly head to head at first. Ivan is also a finisher.

150m I'm revving up. Ivan revves up. The two junior has slowed down. 200m, I'll wait for Ivan to sprint first. He sprints at 225metres. I physched myself on, Once Upon a Time In China Music is already playing in my head. Here goes the sprint. 250m, final turn, me and Ivan head to head, the juniors in front of us. Bad turn for me, lost my breath there. It's do or die from here. Me and Ivan head to head. 275m. All of us head to head.

SHIT! My arms and legs starts to get really cold and crampy. Feels like and electric short circuit going through pulsing my arms. Damn, my reserve finish. 285m, and finishing. Pushing my limits. No breath zone, no more air intake, at this point this differentiate the winners (Going out for air will cause reduction in the aerodynamics of your body thus slowing you down). My arms starting to fail me. My vision getting darker. The other three, is getting faster. Damn couldn't do anything. I got last. My time was 6 minutes and 10 seconds. The other was 6 plus and Ivan was under 6.

Have to go back home and eat more protein shakes. Steroids? Nah...

1st Clinical Rounds

Wow, I delivered my first clinical rounds. I choose one of the most simpliest topic which I could find but can still be accepted. The only comment I got from a senior clinician I got was "Weren't there any other interesting case to present?"
Felt like Eminem for a moment before the presentation like in 8th Mile before he raps.
But my friends say I was good, damn good to be exact. Everyday is a blessing.

This is my first case I handled this week, her name is Mimi.

Pozzle was kind enough to come back and visit me. She was here last year. Energetic Dog.

Even Ultra-Man send his dog. His dog is a 5-6 month old GSD. See the light coming out from her eye. It seems Esmeralda(the dog) broke her leg. Esmeralda is really special. She seems to remind me of Wolfy. The have the same character. It seems that all German Sherpherds have the same demeanour.

Here is Esmeralda looking cute.

How's Wolfy smoochy? Here's a recent picture of her. She is growing up really fast and beautifully. Now she is 8 months old.

She's too heavy to be my baby anymore.

Here's one of the puppies which was left behind by it's owner. So sad, luckily got me to entertain it. Not to worry, soon it was adopted by someone else.

Beautiful isn't she. It seems that the pup is having too much entertaiment.

Now, I'm in surgery rotation. I hope everything goes well, a week more to go.

Busy Bee

This two weeks I'm in the small wards doing slave duties. So I decided to put pictures to illustrate the trials and tribulations in Small Animal Surgery.
This week I was the anaesthetist after weeks being surgeon.

Here I, Super ZeroGravity raring up to go and ahead.

This was shortlived as I was tired and needed to sit down and I did Intra-cranial pre-med for anaesthesia.

This resulted in the dog(named Mongkey) going up to Dreamland in super fast mode.

Surgery goes on well for the first few hours.

Looky here, what is this?

Here nearby my table, another super-surgeon, Pamela was deep in her thoughts. Got a get-together with my family. Did all the family do it all thing together package like dinner and stuff. Got in touch with my communist sister who had just came back home. (She's not really a communist, its just that she studies medicine in Russia.)

I guess I have to always check her ideology. No marxism in the house.

Wow time really flies. I got an equine disease test on tuesday. Still I'm guilty of procrastinating.

Rehomed Sasha just now. It was a bit sad to part with her, but then it was for the best. You all should see her expression when I left her at her new home. It was heart wrenching. By the way Sasha is a 6 year old Harlequinn Great Dane. She was one of my very first few dogs. Now she lives with my aunt with her three adorable little kids which absolutely love her. I had to remind myself not to be jealous.

I got new neighbours today. Kinda of reminds me of desperate housewives. Damn I forgot his name, it was Robert or John something. Let's just call him John Doe I told my sister. Well he got a dog too, and a cat and a few chickens. Seriously chickens. Not the ordinary domestic chicken, its the minature breed-ayam serama I guess. His dog was a Sheep Dog, a Komondor. A rare breed indeed. (description: All white fluffy hair with no eyes to be seen breed). This dog cause a sensation for my dogs cause they couldn't figure out where's the face of this dog. Especially for Wolfy and Frankenstein.

Let me introduce you all to the some of the four legged members of my family

Here is Frankenstein a.k.a. The Cookie Monster and I.

Here's Princess Pei Pei and I.

Well my house internet connection is really slow(56K). I guess you all will have to wait until I get back to the faculty(T1 or T3 I'm not sure) to upload my files.

This is funny!

How to look and act like a professional veterinarian.

How to look and act like a professional veterinarian.

1. When you wake up early in the morning, you dont have to comb your hair, just put a surgical cap on. Just pretend you are going to have a major surgery on. This is important because it can eliminates bad hair day and save money from your barber. Plus it make you look like a specialist.

2. Adjust your spectacles frequently when you talk. If you don't have spec's get one, this is important as clients tend to think vet are nerds. It is better if you have rim-lines on your face due to constant wearing of heavy specks.

3. Never joke or smile and nerver ever laugh. Be serious. This provides an enigma to your personality. Look puzzled when someone tells a joke.
P.S. Even if you fart in front of everybody and observe the destruction dont even have a smirk on your face.

4. Wear a lab coat around. It will be better if you sprinkle some dog or cat fur on it before you go out. Spill some tomato ketchup on the side and say it was blood.

5. When you write, write as incoherent as possible as if youre writing egytian hierogryphlics. If others ask what does it says just shake you head and say what you wrote quickly as if doing a tongue twister. This prevents any medical blame falling on to you. Besides it is a prerequiste to have a bad handwriting to be a doctor.

6. When you talk to others try to include as many medical terms as possible even though people don't understand you. Example when you're talking to your neighbour:-

Normal ppl: Damn last nite nite got a lot of mosquito. Cant sleep lah.
Veterinarian: I notice there is a lot of papules on your skin? Did it illicit any neurological response? Is it pruritic? I hope there is no digital response.

Normal ppl: ( He is blank for a moment and stares at the vet in the face not knowing what the hell is he talking about, but in order to save face he pretends to know what the vet is talking about. So he thinks that the vet is talking about his dog.)
Yeah, the dog seems a bit funny today.

Veterinarian: ( Satisfied with his cryptic message he intends to do more damage). I suggest I do a through physical exam on him.

Normal ppl: ( He is happy that he can understand what the vet says and goes on with the story line)
Yeah, just do what you do lah. (He brings his dog over)

Veterinarian: ( Checks the dog and makes a loud sighing sound eventhough the dog is healthy)
I think there could be an underlying problem, I guess we will have to see the progression.

Normal ppl: OK.

Veterinarian: That will do for now. By the way, I'll let my nurse send you the bill. See you tommorow .( The vet is happy consultation fee will cover for his golf game this afternoon.)
If you don't have a nurse, let your wife or your mother become a nurse, to take care of the money collecting activity.

7. When someone aproach you with their pet, talk to the pet first as if the pet is human an capable of speech, ignore the client first as if he/she is a dog barking his head off. This shows that you care for their pets. Then politely say to the client "Could you repeat everything you just said?" with a smile. Then continue to talk to the pet and ask the client to repeat what he/she says.

8. Complain to everyone that you have not even have your breakfast eventhough it is dinner time. Say that you had a super busy day and had cases here and there to do. This is usually a good pick up line for clients of the opposite sex. They usually instictively offer you a free dinner.

9. Put as many vet-books in your shelf near your examining table. It is better if you put many bookmarks in them. Pour coffee on some of it, as if you doze of and accidentaly spilt coffee on them while you were studying.

10. --This line is deleted to avoid offending normal people--

Blogger

Wow this blogspot thing is amazing. Why would they censor friendster? Out of all the internet sites to censor the last thing you would expect was friendster. Actually the frst site that got censor in way back was hackers.com and now friendster. Jeez

Now I would be based here. I still need to figure how thing works over here. How to upload pictures and stuff.

Just read something nice today and I thought I share it with you guys..

The Speech of Angels by Sharon Maasan
excerpt from the book on silence.

I did not mind the silence, infact, it was a relief because most of the time people seem to be under the obligation to spout words, no matter how meaningless, just so that there is no gap in the conversation.

I never feel such a duty, which makes them uncomfortable im ny presence. That's when they start asking questions, and I know they are speaking just fot he sake of speaking and don't really want to know anyhting, so I keep silent, which makes them even more uncomfortable.

Mama used to hate silence. But Dean didn't mind silence, so we walked companionably together, and when he did start speaking on the little lane, it was no problem for me to respond, because in the silence before, our minds had mingled and harmonized themselves, so that now, conversation was an effortless flow. It was a companionable silence. Each of us comfortable with our own thoughts and yet aware of the other's presence - at least, I was now aware of him and glad that he was there.

That's why people talk. This somehow makes sense.
Exams on Monday and Tuesday and still I procrastinate. The thing was this dog was smelling like urine. The owner said the dog doesn't walk on leash and I had to carry the dog to the X-ray room. Damn my hands smell like urine. Thank god my coat didn't catch the smell.

Then, a good thing happen. I think it was like god tried to repay my good deeds in the ward. An angel appeared in the ward. Not an angel practically. She was drop dead gorgeous around 5 foot 6, tanned, long legs wearing mid-rift gym pants and black top. So, I approached and took the case. I think she got the idea I was a doctor already ( I still have one more year to go OK) cause I was examining her cat professionally. We talk and I got her name.. Natasha R... Her mom is a TV drama star and she is still studying. Her mom's name is Ochee ( Glamour name I guess). I was quite nervous you see cause I didn't her to smell my urine parfum from the Golden Retriever. So my cassanova meter was tuned down to half. I hope the cat get sick again or better, she makes the cat sick just to come back and see me.

I wouldn't mind giving her house visits to give treatment.
